Make-up fanatic

About five years ago, I considered a career on being a make-up artist. I did some research on it and I thought, hey, I could do that. Why not? I like make-up, I like putting on the stuff and I like to color anyone's face who was willing to let me. I never did get around to doing it. I didn't really know much about the requirements for it. I know for one, the easiest way to break into that thing was to be an apprentice of someone already in that industry. That was difficult. Because the only person I knew in that industry lived all the way in CONNECTICUT! So, I decided to train myself. I bought books, videos, brushes, and a ton of make-up. Like you wouldn't believe! I had an ENTIRE backpack, full of make-up. Now, the only problem was...who to use as my guinea pig (so to speak)? Since I couldn't find anyone and my daughter was still too young, I practiced on myself. I tried different techniques and I would call my friend for some advice.

I finally got my break when we were on vacation. My aunt was going to a wedding and she asked me to put her make-up. I didn't get paid of course. I didn't have the heart to charge her. Besides, that was my first time to put make-up on my aunt. I was so nervous, I didn't want to disappoint her. She helped me out though. When I was done, she would tell me which areas I needed to put more color on. Until she was satisfied.

When I saw her the next day, she told me that she had a lot of compliments on her make-up. WOW! That really made my day and it made me feel more comfortable with being a make-up artist. So, the next wedding we went to, she asked me again to put her make-up. But she wasn't the only one. I also put make-up on my younger cousin and her sister. I had to convince her sister to let me put SOME make-up on her. And after that, she too had SOME confidence in me. Take note, I said some.

But sadly, all that enthusiasm quickly went away. Why? To be honest with you, I don't really know. I guess, after we came back there was just no one to practice on anymore. And sadly, after two years, I had to get rid of all my make-up because they expired. That, and I found a new brand of make-up that I have been using for the past two years. It's called Bare Minerals. It's in powder form and it looks very natural on your skin. You can't tell at all that you are wearing make-up. I love it. But, I am still looking for something that would provide full coverage, and at the same time un-noticeable on your skin.
